Product Description

Limited vinyl LP pressing includes bonus CD pressing. 2020 release. Tim Bowness is primarily known as vocalist/co-writer with the band No-Man, a long-running collaboration with Steven Wilson, with whom he also the co-hosts The Album Years, which has reached the Top 5 Music Podcast charts in over 25 countries (#1 in 10) in 2020. His recent quartet of solo releases on InsideOutMusic/Sony have entered the official UK Top 5 Rock, Progressive, and Vinyl charts, as well as the official Scottish charts. Late Night Laments is a collection of lush, atmospheric songs with a wide lyrical scope marking the most intimate yet universal of Tim Bowness's solo releases. Mixed by his long-term No-Man partner Steven Wilson and mastered by Calum Malcolm (The Blue Nile, Prefab Sprout), the album - co-produced by Bowness and Brian Hulse - combines electronic soundscapes, acoustic instrumentation and unexpected rhythms in a tightly focused and emotionally charged entry in his increasingly impressive solo catalog.

I've loved No-Man for decades, and was perfectly happy to follow that band's vocalist and co-writer' s solo career. Since No-Man rarely records together anymore, Tim Bowness has continued to give us his unique songs with lyrics that are like poetry, delivered in his fragile, expressive voice. The last several Bowness solo albums have been good and I like them all, but THIS one, the brand new one, sounds, to me, more like the old No-Man that I love with a passion. It's more like the studio efforts No-Man did in the decade of the 2000s. So if you like that stuff, you will love "Late Night Laments." Each song is melodic and haunting, something to play at night with lit candles. Recommended.
