Two pictures of oily residue under protector, one picture after most recent cleaning with dish soap and no residue, one picture of how I placed them most recently on furniture to try to eliminate issues.I bought one of these to place on my dining room table and I absolutely love it. When I received it I wiped both sides of it down with kitchen cleaner and I've never had a problem. I also have part of my table etched out which may be why moisture does not collect underneath the table protector, but the residue is oily, not watery, and why it hasn't ruined my other furniture.I bought new furniture for my bedroom and I decided to purchase protectors for all the surfaces. I wiped down each of the protectors on both sides. Now, you're probably thinking to yourself that I would be complaining about how it unfolds and how it's a pain in the butt to get it to do so. Not so much. The surfaces of all my bedroom furniture are flat. After a very short time "moisture" starts to collect underneath the protectors. As I said, I have cleaned them on both sides before placing them on my furniture. After I noticed "moisture" was collecting, I removed everything off the top surface, removed the protector and cleaned both sides of the protector again. I noticed that the protector is leaching some sort of oily residue which was left on my furniture. I was able to buff it off my furniture with some cleaner, but it wasn't an easy task. Thank goodness nothing was ruined. I did take some elbow grease.I noticed just 3 weeks later that this had happened again. I took everything off and this time I wiped down both sides of the protector with a little bit of soapy water and straight dish soap ( the popular spray kind ). I sprayed the dish soap on and then I used a paper towel wetted with soapy water to clean both sides. When I put the topper back on I turn them upside down and used the side that had been facing up on the furniture. All the protectors were rolled out and the "underside" surface was placed on all the furniture. I'm going to see if the dish soap method and placing the side that was facing out, now down onto the surface, changes things. And yes, everything was thoroughly dried including the top of the furniture and both sides of the protectors before they were placed on top of the furniture. There were no signs of "moisture" for weeks. I believe these were all delivered in the fall and winter time. Both times I had to clean the top of the furniture off as well as the protectors because of the oily film left by the protectors. The protectors are thick and nice and do what they're supposed to do. I don't have a problem at all with the one on my table, but my table also doesn't have a completely flat surface, which is sort of why I got the protector to begin with. I didn't want crumbs in any of the etched design. I like them so much that I bought them for my bedroom furniture and I continue to have these problems. So, it's a very nice product and does what it's supposed to do. Very nice quality, but they are leaching a film that I have attempted to clean three times off of all surfaces.
