What a relief! After the previous sequel of the series this book was a very positive surprise.Again, there are several love stories intertwined and again there is one love story placed during WWII.1. Mike Muldoon and Joan DaCostaA slowly paced, good romance that offers a lot of insight concerning the insecurities of the two main characters. "Communication impaired" Mike is fighting against the stereotypes referring, among other things, to his youth and his past/present appearance. Joan fights with her weight, age and how she could manage her career and long distance relationship if she should get seriously involved with Mike. The dialogues were interesting and well done. The romance was slowly paced but when it took of it sizzled!2. Catherine and Vince DaCostaThey are Joan's grandparents and their love story was placed in WWII. Although I'm not a big fan of the WWII romances that keep coming up in this series, I thought that this was a good love story with interesting background.3. Mary Lou and SamThis was a very interesting and well developed part of the book which offered a lot of insight in the couples' relationship. Not that I appreciated or even liked Mary Lou, however, I was very positively surprised to find out how much she loved Haley. I was also astonished to discover how strongly she tried to save her marriage, although her method to do so didn't really persuade me. Needless to say that I was really taken aback by her confessions! The action part of this book was completely neglected, which didn't really matter to me. However, if you wish to read a real military romance you might not chose this book. In any other case, very recommendable.
