Shiny, glossy disc, like new! Jacket is in NEAR MINT condition. Still in shrinkwrap opened on right.
I've been a Beatles fan most of my life and, in my opinion, there isn't a bad song on this CD. Love it.Okay, I know some of you will disagree that this is their masterpiece; you may possibly point toward the utterly fantastic Revolver, or perhaps Sgt. Pepper as thier finest moment. Perhaps artistically that may be so (remember, this is subjective). But, for me, and MILLIONS others, the early Beatles albums were and are the most exciting that they ever released, the most exhilirating music ever made possibly; THIS is the sound of Beatlemania! And man does it sound wonderful! GLORIOUS! Okay, the reviewer below me made some good points about certain songs sounding better on a couple other CDs (one being a comp., which I steer from except for Past Masters; I am amongst those who simply cannot afford to buy a CD for one song; so congratulations if you can afford that, or the stereo box --let alone the mono one, with the original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul, and the great Sgt. Pepper mono mix; but for MANY of us, who are possibly buying these one, two, three etc at a time, and those who have hungered for the first four albums to be released in stereo for ALL these years (utter frustration for many extreme fanatics) --these are a GODSEND!And this CD sounds miles better to me than on the infamous "Beat Records" Original Master Recordings CD set that I've absolutely treasured. It was infamous for its GREAT sound quality. That is, it was great sound...UNTIL NOW.I cannot put into words the thrill of hearing this album this way, but I will try...first off, the sound is FANTASTIC! Especially amazing was the first listening to Things We Said Today; it sounds unbelieveable on here! And the opening drum wallop of Any Time At All, which gets MY vote as one of the finest Beatles songs ever, my absolute favorite; those writers of the book An Illustrated Record claim that it's not a love song, that is ABSURD! It's the great John Lennon at 100% sincere and heartfelt (which with John means a LOT), the lyrics are beautiful and the delivery is absolute perfection; if you want to know why Lennon was/is considered one of the very best singers in rock and roll history, look no further than this song. It's the greatest!; Lennon was the greatest. This -- along with With The Beatles -- is my favorite Beatles album. Their greatest period. This is simply the peak of the Beatles as pop song craftsmen. There is NOTHING more important to a song than a euphoric feeling it can bring to you just from hearing it, as opposed to whatever "statement" it makes. Joyously life-affirming is what this is! I was feeling down lately, and this music makes me -- can make one -- feel glad to be ALIVE! The greatness of the early Beatles! This the most thrilling, Any Time At All, Tell Me Why, Things We Said Today, A Hard Day's Night, I Should Have Known Better, And I Love Her -- there is simply not a bad song on here! They are fantastic. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You -- dismissed by some snobs for being "lightweight" lyrically, even Lennon was not crazy of The Beatles' early songs; too bad! For the opening chords [whatever chords they are!] are positively THRLLING! One song that was my least favorite on here, When I Get Home, even THAT sounds wonderful! This whole album is utter pop perfection.I bought this and Revolver first, as I did not have the money to pre-order more. I have since went out today and, spurred on by these, the sound on both (Revolver is VASTLY improved from its previous CD release), I was SO excited, bought the other 5 I was missing of up through Revolver, and will hopefully get more (aka the rest) in a couple weeks.Don't let this gem of an album pass you by; it is positively beautiful. You NOT gonna think that And I Love Her, or Any Time At All, are anything less?Stop analyzing and open your heart. (I just realized, how some will never appreciate certain albums, the truth in the Lovin' Spoonful song: "It's like trying to tell a stranger about rock and roll.")ENJOY! The songs are perfection and the sound quality is TREMENDOUS!!!!No true Beatles fan can NOT love this disc!Canciones de sonido estéreo increíbleLower ur pricesThe music is phenomenal (obviously), as is the booklet and release content. I would have happily given this a 5 if it weren't for the utter disregard for the packaging. CD arrived in a light bubble mailer with no additional packing material to protect the glossy, cardboard digipak from shuffling around or from being crushed. The spine was crumpled and as a result, the cover doesn't quite close the way it was designed to. The brand new disc was scratched right out of the package. Luckily, the scratch had no effect on the playability of the disc. I know this release is 13 years old, and the number of people who actually care about physical music media (especially CDs) is a niche, but receiving the digipak in this condition was disappointing, to say the least. With the gazillions of Beatles reviews and opinions on here and not having the time to read through them all, please forgive me if I had repeated what anyone else has said ... This is my take on the 2009 stereo CD re-master of "A Hard Day's Night" by The Beatles...For the very first Beatles album in which the entire recording included self written compositions, this album has the perfect variety of musical styles, including some great rock and roll track and a few beautiful ballads! Not sure why, but while I thought that the sound quality to all of the Beatles 2009 re-released CDs was magnificent, both the stereo quality to this release and "With The Beatles" came out rather poor (That is why I docked one star from the overall product ... The same applies to the selections from these albums that were featured on the 2010 CD re-release of the 1962-1966 best-of "Red Album") ...The separation of the different elements in the stereo picture does not work as well as on earlier stereo versions of the tracks. The quality that we get here is reminiscent of many of the 1987 stereo mixes for the "Help!" and "Rubber Soul" albums, in which we do not get as wide a range of stereo quality and poor separation of what was originally to be featured in the left and right-hand stereo channels. When comparing the 2009 stereo re-masters to earlier stereo masters, the stereo versions of the "A Hard Day's Night" tracks that were featured on "Something New," from the first box set of "The Capitol Albums" on CD, have the best stereo quality. In addition, there are much better stereo mixes of the title track and "Can't Buy Me Love" on the original CD release of the "1" best-of album (I haven't purchased the digipak re-release from a few years ago, but am guessing that the 2009 re-masters were used for the release), and a much better stereo version of "I Should Have Known Better" from a cassette tape version of the US "Hey Jude" album and the same for "You Can't Do That," from the "Rock and Roll Music" compilation (Even though the stereo quality of the tracks was in reverse, swapping output from the left and right channels, if that makes sense!) that I had wore out ... Many of the original stereo mixes feature the drums and bass guitar to many of the songs VERY strongly on the left-hand stereo channel, and you can hear the difference in the most recent stereo re-masters ... Tracks like "I Should Have Known Better," "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You," and "Can't Buy Me Love" feature the drums and bass guitar more "center-left" in the 2009 stereo quality. Not sure if this was due to wear and tear of the original recordings or just "manipulated" just for the CD re-release, but somehow the original stereo quality remains for the rest of the stereo CD re-masters, including neighbor albums "Please Please Me" and "Beatles for Sale." Wish there was a way for those who worked on the 2009 CD re-masters to reissue a "two for" that includes the better stereo mixes from both "A Hard Day's Night" and "With The Beatles" on a single CD or just to "revamp" the stereo output for these two individual albums and include the mono mixes on the same discs, before or after the stereo versions. :)Aside from the poor stereo quality to this particular release, any album of The Beatles should be something that we customers/fans should have the privilege of rating 100 or more "gold stars," especially from us die hard Beatle Fans or "Beatlemaniacs!"Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)Wow, this album is brilliant! Although I have the Red and Blue albums, I bought this one because I stumbled across ‘Should have known better’ on Youtube and was transported back to my childhood sitting in front of my parents’ record player. I’d forgotten all about this track and after a quick search found it on this album and decided to get it. I’m so glad I did because in addition to the well known songs, I’ve discovered some ‘new to me’ Beatles tracks which I’ve fallen in love with; particularly ‘I’ll Be back’. The CD has been on repeat since getting it. According to Google, this album was released in 1964; would have loved to be a teenager at that time and to know what it was like to hear this music for the first time. It must have been awesome! There's very little that can be said about the Beatles that hasn't already be said and I guess that anyone buying this album will already know what a brilliant album this is. Other reviewers have offered opinions on the improved sound quality that the re-issues offer and I can't really add to that. One thing that I particularly like about the new CD format is, however, the packaging of the albums themselves...rather than a cheap looking plastic box with inlays, this comes in a really nice cardboard gate-fold, booklet style cover and is, in that regard, quite reminiscent of the 12" format (only much smaller, obviously). Also there is a certain uniformity to the packaging across the entire back catalogue - every album from Please Please Me through to Let It Be (the White Album notwithstanding, for obvious reasons) share certain design features, so if you buy the full set they look great on the shelfThis Album Is Great To Hear Once Again In Mono, Although I Do Have An Original 2nd Press Mono From 1964 But I Don"t Really Like To Play It Because I Am A Collector And I Want To Keep It In The Best Possible Condition That I Can ....All Collectors Will Understand What I Am Talking About,So Buying This Album Was A No Brainer For Me ( I"ve Played This But Only Once) , This Was The Beatles 3rd Album That Was Released Way Back On July 10th 1964 And Went To Number 1 Spot ( of course it did) And Stayed There For An Astonishing 21 Weeks Since It"s First Entry In to The Charts On July 18th 1964.Now This New Mono Remastered 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Re-Captures The Original Released Vinyl Perfectly , And It Sounds GreatIt Always Has Been A Fantastic Album ...Always Will Be, But To Hear Them So Clearly Is Just Amazing . Perfect Example Is The Percussion On AND I LOVE HER , Fantastic. The Sound Is Really Stunning And So Smooth That You Can Really Feel The Songs Enter Your Soul And Take Notice Of The Fine Beautiful Vocals Of Our Boys Singing Just To You, Even If You Were Not Even Born In 1964 This Will Make You Feel That You Were And Watching And Listening To The One And Only THE BEATLES. ......So What Are You Waiting For BUY THIS NOW.There have been so many reviews about the music, which in my view is 5 star, such I do not have much more to say. This album was so popular and soon after its release every track on this album made its way onto the playlist of the AM pop radio stations. All the tracks would probably have been Number 1 in the hit parade. Such was the pulling power of Britain's number one pop group - although Rolling Stones fans might disagree. So enough said. This is another really good pressing it was exceptionally well wrapped. I have now found an easier way to get the cellophane covering off by gripping the seams tightly with my thumb and pushing. The record cover looks exactly like the '64 original.I inspected the record before playing it and I could see no scratches or imperfections and the spindle hole was centered perfectly. I didn't wash the record but cleaned it with a carbon brush. The sound reproduction was gorgeous. I have not listened to a vinyl version of this album since the 70s. Most of these older albums would have been ruined by me and my friends from playing the records excessively on Dansettes. By the time we got round to buying half decent equipment in the mid 70s the records were wrecked. Someone borrowed my copy and never returned it.Nowadays, we have got the double benefit of decent turntables and very good moving magnet cartridges. Our amplifiers and speakers have also improved no end. We can play perfectly pressed new Beatles LPs under the best of circumstances. I have never heard " A Hard day's Night" sounding so good on an LP: there was no wow or flutter and no mains hum or amplifier hum to mar the performance. There was hardly a snap crackle or pop and the tracks remained almost silent between the songs at the listening volumes that I use.The bass reproduction was a bit weak but this is a feature of all the early Beatles LPs, otherwise the music reproduction sounded perfect. If you were to compare the newly remastered LP with a pristine copy of the 1964 original I doubt that you would hear a difference and this was the object of the exercise. So, it is worth the £25 asking price but if you look around in record shops you can probably find it cheaper still. If you just love The Beatles music on vinyl then there is no need to use up all your savings to find a near mint copy of the 1964 pressing. £25 does it all for you. That is why The Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" mono vinyl LP gets 5 stars.Although not as sophisticated as the likes of 'Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver', this LP is deservedly adjudged to be amongst the best of their early works. Apart from the hits - the title track and 'Can't Buy Me Love' - John provides quality in the shape of 'If I Fell' and 'I Should Have Known Better' whilst Paul weighs in with the gorgeous 'And I Love Her' and the hidden gem that is 'Things We Said Today'. Quite simply; superb.
