This is my first year using this tree stand. I got the medium size as we have 8 foot ceilings and never get a huge tree. I'm really happy with the results so far this year, but there is definitely still some room for improvements.-The initial set up of the tree was everything I hoped for and more. It was so fast and easy. I had the tree off the top of the car, in the tree stand, and fully set up and secured before my wife even had the three kids out of the car and into the house. It was so fast and so easy and worth the upgrade alone. They kind of lead you to believe this will be the tree stand to end all tree stands though. But it definitely still left a little to be desired for me. Again, I do think it's worth it for the ease of set up alone, so these are more minor items. I think I if went into spending ~$100 on a tree stand expecting these items, I would have been even more satisfied than I am right now, so I wanted to point them out to get expectations in the right place for other hopefully.-The water gauge is really nice to have. It's a little reminder to water the tree. However it sticks at the highest level (basically where it was when you watered it). I just send my daughter under there to tap it to get it to give an accurate reading. She hasn't complained about doing it yet. This is better than having to stick your finger inside the tree stand like I used to have to do still, but it doesn't seem to make sense to me why Krinner couldn't have figured out how to get this working.-I was under the impression that the water capacity would be a game changer. I think it is 2.5 gallons for this size stand. That must be before the volume of the trunk is subtracted because I definitely didn't add that much on first watering. I still have to water it every day. I use a small pitcher, probably about 1 quart and it takes usually 2 of those per day and the gauge goes from close to empty to close to full after watering it. This is still an improvement over the old stand but not by much.-Storage with the crank is kind of tough. The crank sticks up above the top of the stand, so it's difficult to get it back in the box. You can get the crank to be down flat but I haven't figured out how to yet. I like things to be stacked nice a flat and away in their boxes in the Christmas closet. This is still am improvement over the old stand but I don't see why it's so tough to get the crank to go flat.-Watering is my biggest complaint. There isn't much room to pour the water in. With my old, basic tree stand, I could use any vessel lying around -- usually a pint glass was my item of choice. There is very little room between the tree trunk and the rim of the tree stand cavity and also the tree supports and steel cable get in the way. I found a pitcher that has a long spout that seems to work well but I still have a really hard time watering it. I spill something pretty much every time. This is actually a downgrade from my old tree stand. All in all, this is a very welcomed upgrade. If I had to do it over again, I might get the large or the XL to get improved water capacity then have to water it less. If you're looking to splurge on a tree stand you should go for it! Just be sure to keep your expectations within reason on the other items other than set up.We ordered this a few weeks before Christmas. but shipping delays indicated it would arrive too late, so we bought the identical model locally )50 miles away!) and canceled the order. (Of course the Amazon order arrived earlier than indicated, but we already had the tree mounted in the other unit!) So... our experience was with the identical unit.Mounting the tree was as easy as I've ever experienced. Gone are the days of twiddling screws endlessly to coerce a tree to be vertical. (You still benefit from a partner who can identify vertical while you're laying under the tree.)Adding water is easy enough if you have a long-spout watering can -- it holds a decent volume of water as you experience on first-filling. There's a water-level indicator - a float that rises up through the base - and you should orient this indicator for best visibility when you place the base.Dismounting the tree was trivial - the mechanism releases quickly pushing a button. The base's weight is impressive - that and the width give it the stability. It's even more impressive when you've removed the tree: at this point the base is burdened with the remaining water - a fair volume! You might want help carrying it somewhere to dump the water, or you might bring in a bucket to pour off the water. After emptying it, we gave it a week in corner to dry out before packing it up for next year. We're quite satisfied with this! Our only hesitation in recommending it is the price, but I don't know of a comparable, better-priced product.I had a mishap at my home Christmas 2020... I had 2 tree stands that were OLD. When packing up x-mas gear I told my husband I wanted to get rid of one of the stands. He misunderstood and got rid of the stand I wanted to keep and I didn't know it. Me, a month later, still seeing the stand I wanted to get rid of, well, got rid of that stand. Come Christmas 2021, we got our tree and realized BOTH of the stands we had were donated so we had no stand!Amazon to the rescue. I saw this and hit the buy now button. It's not exactly an inexpensive stand but holy smokes I can't believe we struggled with the stupid stands we had! We opened the box, set it down stuck the tree in it, pushed the foot pedal down and it was done. To "a little to the right! No, no, too far, go left! Wait turn it STOP!" With this stand our 9' tree was straight and secure in under 3 minutes. Even better, it holds a LOT of water and has that pop-up water gage. We had our tree up for 4 solid weeks and only had to re-fill once.It is a bit complicated to drain thought, the stand itself is really heavy and add in a bunch of water and it's very hard to lift and get to a sink or outside to tip and drain, but this still gets 5 stars from me.This stand is phenomenal! Hands down the best Christmas tree stand I have ever used. I was able to put our 8’ tree up in ~30 seconds by myself! The cable system is very strong and very simple to operate. Just need to make sure the tree is standing vertically on the spike in the base and then simply use your foot to press the lever and crank the claws shut around the trunk of the tree. Once it’s in place you just slide the red switch to the lock position and your tree isn’t going anywhere! This stand also has a larger water tank than any stand I’ve ever used before, it holds almost 10L! The water level indicator is a little “sticky” so it doesn’t always reflect the actual level but it gives you a general idea at least. We threw our tree skirt over top so couldn’t see the indicator once it was all set up, but it’s easy enough to check the water level with your fingers. Super easy to undo as well, simply unlock the lever and push up, just watch your hands because it releases very quickly. We had an 8’ tree this year and it could easily have handled a trunk twice the size. If you found this review useful please hit the ‘HELPFUL’ button! Thanks! :)Brilliant product, keeps the tree very straight and secure.Holder tree well, and good well to hold waterTree was up in minutes instead of the usual jostling of past years.
