The 1973 release of this album was something of a surprise. Here was Harry Nilsson, one of the best singer/songwriters recording an album of old (classic) covers. And what a pleasant surprise it was. Accompanying him is Gordon Jenkins, who most reviewers associate with Frank Sinatra, but to my mind orchestrated two of Nat King Cole's greatest albums. There is something extraordinarily distinctive about Gordon Jenkins' arrangements - something that, when listening to them, you automatically know who wrote them. I don't believe this can be said of Nelson Riddle or any other arranger. They are simply 'lush', even 'gorgeous'.This album is a true classic. The Japanese JVC K2 remaster has been lovingly done, and, like the other reissues, includes 10 bonus tracks - some alternate versions of original album tracks. If you are an audiophile who is a fan of this sort of music, buy this limited edition cardboard mini LP gatefold while it is still available.
