It is a powerful, contemporary piece that explores the energy and the mysteries conjured up by the summer solstice in the Scandinavian tradition. A vast and ambitious project, Midsummer Nights Dream is danced by the Royal Swedish Ballet and set to a music by Mikael Karlsson. Swedish star pop singer Anna von Hausswolff sings throughout this one-of-a-kind production.

I ADORE this piece. I've seen LIVE some of the greatest dance performances of all time -- from Bill T. Jones Still/Here at BAM to Mark Morris L'Allegro at the State Theater to Pina Bausch to Baryshnikov White Oak Project and let me tell you, this Alexander Ekman has it GOING ON!!! Sad note: the cover photo is tragically bad and ill-advised as it is not evocative of what this is all about. I've now watched Eskapist six times and STILL haven't grasped everything that's happening in front of my eyes and in my head. I love, love, LOVE IT!!! And don't EVEN get me started on the music... I hear it in my sleep.
