Lee Martin has few if any peers when it comes to fabricating a story from a tragic but still somewhat commonplace occurrence in small town America with characters that are not unlike every day folk on the streets of these same villages or in larger cities. He can weave facts, personalities, settings and happenings into a novel that is readable, enjoyable and flat out hard to put down. He seems to be able to carry it off in each of his books and LATE ONE NIGHT is just one more example. I have read most of his novels to date and it is no wonder to me that he is a professor of writing MFA at a major university. What a joy for an aspiring young writer to be able to learn or perfect the craft of writing in his classroom or as his apostle. If you haven't read Lee Martin to date, get busy and do it...you don't know what you are missing if you love good novels.
