This is a joyous collection even for the Rilke-uninitiated. We have begun to talk about letting things be and finding comfort in negative spaces since the pandemic. Rilke's poems from around the early days of first world war take a bold step in luxuriating in the night's richness, even as we confront our small and silly ways in the face of the vast night.It's probably just me, but I keep finding my as yet nascent kashmir shaivism joy at the universe being reflected in Poems to Night. Well, eye of the beholder and all of that.Pushkin Press has done well in making this first edition beautiful and affordable. Kudos to the translator Mr Stone for keeping the language accessible.
