In the second installment of the Forbidden trilogy, it has been four years since attorney Michael Tucker defended Sara Goldstein, the Long Island heiress, against murder charges. Now she is suing him! As Michael comes to terms with his true feelings for Sara, he unwittingly uncovers the truth behind Uncle Charlie’s murder, as well as an unsolved murder from years’ past. By exploring the present and the past, Forbidden Night begins to decipher the mystery of the carousel horses, and answers the question: did Sara really kill Uncle Charlie?
Don't stop now, author Joanne Lewis...this novel, the 2nd in what is called the "Forbidden Trilogy," was impossible for this avid reader to predict. Though I read the first book in the series, a terrific stand alone mystery as this book could be, I still was held in suspense, enjoying the fact that I could not have predicted what occurred in this book. Thought of as a mystery, and it is, it is something more including an historical fiction; acting as a reminder to me that love and loss co-exist, even when the circumstances are worse than dire. I was given to bouts of both horror as well as the beautiful peace as I witnessed life through the lens of others. The book should be read because it is so damn good. So please, Ms Lewis, get me the final book in this insightful, mysterious and fascinating series.
